Hi! Thank you for your interest in my artwork! I'm Amylyn McGary and I've been passionate about creating for as long as I can remember. I have always been captivated by colors, shapes, and the endless possibilities of expressing emotions and stories through art.
While my professional path led me to enlisting into the Army and becoming a laboratory scientist, I have tried to continuously hone my artistic skills and techniques through self-study and workshops. What was once just a background hobby is now a passionate priority in my life thanks to continued support from friends and family and a growing number of new connections.
I currently reside in Heber Springs, Arkansas, which gives me endless inspirations in the sights, sounds, and rhythms of nature. If I'm not at work or in my art studio, I am probably in the woods or on the lake. I love to immerse myself in the ever-changing colors, textures, and moods of the landscape. My ultimate goal would be that this is reflected in the work I produce.

I took courses in drawing and graphic design, and though my degree was in a STEM field, the skills I learned in those classes will stay with me forever.
Despite pursuing a full-time career in Laboratory Science, art has remained my creative outlet. Balancing my artistic pursuits with my full-time job has taught me discipline, time management, and the importance of nurturing creativity amidst a busy schedule.

I'm always finding something new in the art world that I want to try- whether that comes in the form of dabbling or hyperfixating until it becomes a new subset of my personality. Charcoal and pencil drawings have taken over in recent years (most of which being portraiture), but I still have love for acrylic painting and wood burning, with some other crafts inbetween, of course.
